Herbs, perennial,45-55m tall.Rhizome prostrate,nodular,and with indented stem marks; Root mass fusiform.Stem base scales persistent,alternate leaves,palmately compound leaves,3 round stem apical; Petiole 4-7cm long,glabrous; Stipules ovate,ca.2mm long;Leaflets 5(or rarely 7),pinnately divided,lobes unequal,larger in the middle,smaller at both ends,6-12 x 2.5-6cm,apex caudate acuminate,base broadly cuneate to suborbicular,oblique,margin serrate and bristly,upper veins sparsely bristly.Inflorescences umbels solitary at stem apex with 50-80 flowers,pedicels 8-10cm long,glabrous,calyx 5-toothed,glabrous; Flowers pale green,petals 5,long ovate to long elliptic; Stamens 5,filaments equal to or slightly longer than petals; Ovary inferior,2-loculed,style 2,united into 1,stigma slightly enlarged and slightly curved.Drupe- shaped berry,globular reniform,ca.8mm in diameter,red when ripe.Seeds 2,subglobose,white,2 -- 3mm in diameter.Flowering from May to June,fruiting from July to August.
